June – October. The gentle humpback whales journey from the Antarctica and cruise past the shores of Sugarloaf Point to reach the warmer waters of the north, then return with their offspring. They can be seen and often heard from the comfort of a lighthouse keeper’s cottage, up at the light tower, or from the grassy headland which is part of our precinct.
November - May. Lighthouse Beach and Boat Beach are only a short walk from the cottages, so there is no need to take a vehicle. During beach season the ocean is warm and clear for swimming. Sugarloaf Point also has shallow rock pools for children to play in. Pods of Dolphins can often be seen frolicking in the waters of Lighthouse Beach.
Head Keeper’s Cottage
Weekends are 3 nights: Friday to Monday.
Weekdays are 4 nights: Monday to Friday.
Assistant Keeper’s Cottage South
Weekends are 3 nights: Friday to Monday.
Weekdays are 2 or 4 nights: Monday/Tuesday or Wednesday/Thursday.
Assistant Keeper’s Cottage North
Weekends are 3 nights: Friday to Monday.
Weekdays are 2 or 4 nights: Monday/Tuesday or Wednesday/Thursday.
Other Info
- School Holiday letting periods may vary from 4-7 nights according to public holidays.
- There are no arrivals and departures on public holidays unless prior arrangements have been made with SRLC.
- 7-night bookings are available Monday to Monday, or Friday to Friday in the Head Keeper’s Cottage.
- 5–7-night bookings are also available for the Assistant Keepers’ Cottages.
Occupancy numbers cannot exceed the maximum cottage numbers.
Head Keeper’s Cottage 8, Assistant Keeper’s South Cottage 6, and Assistant Keeper’s North Cottage 6.
The Head Keeper’s Cottage has 3 bedrooms to accommodate up to 8 people.
Room 1: 1 Queen bed
Room 2: 1 Queen bed and 1 Single bed
Room 3: 1 Queen bed and 1 Single bed.
Both Assistant Keepers’ Cottages South and North has 2 bedrooms and will accommodate up to 6 people.
Room 1: 1 Queen bed
Room 2: 1 Queen bed and 1 Single trundle bed
Living room: 1 double sofa bed.
There is an adjoining door between the two Assistant Keepers’ Cottages living rooms if booking the two cottages together for a gathering of 12 people.
A 50% deposit will be processed by Seal Rocks Lighthouse Cottages at the time of your booking with the credit card provided in your booking.
The balance of your accommodation will be due 30 days before the first arrival day. Please let our office know if you prefer to make a bank transfer.
We only accept payments from the booking customer and cannot accept separate payments from members in a group.
AMSA does not conduct tours inside the lighthouse, but one can walk around the external area.
Our guests can enjoy a walk up to the lighthouse to watch the sunrise or visit at night. Our gate is closed to the general public from Sunset to Sunrise.
Our guests are not required to obtain a Myall Lakes National Park pass, but only if you plan to do beach driving on Lighthouse Beach. A pass can be purchased through the National Parks and Wildlife Services website.

The booking customer agrees that…
SRLC requires 30 days cancellation notice before the first arrival day.
25% is non refundable for the full period booked in the event of a cancellation.
Less than 30 days cancellation, the balance of your accommodation will be due prior to the first arrival day, and 75% of the full period booked will be refunded if the cottage rebooks for the equal value.
In this case, we will do our best to re advertise the vacancy on our booking site and social media.
Your cottage will be ready from 3pm. Departure time is 10am.
Upon receipt of full payment and the return of your Security and Guest Register, an access code will be given to allow vehicle entrance through the National Park main gate.
Guests can drive their vehicles up to the cottages to unpack and reload. Our guest garages are a short walk from the cottages.
You will need to bring your provisions. All bed and bath linen are provided, and starter amenities are supplied in the cottages.
Our office is adjoined to the Head Keeper's Cottage, and a staff member will be available to assist.
Assistance is available if needed during your stay.
All bookings are accepted on the basis that utmost care and consideration is given to the cottages, its property, and neighbouring guests.
Telstra services is the best coverage here at Sugarloaf Point.
Internet is available in all cottages at our rural moderate speed.
The cottages are located in the Myall Lakes National Park and feeding of any native animals is prohibited.
The cottages are located in the Myall Lakes National Park and dogs are not permitted to enter the park.
The cottages and the Myall Lakes National Park is a fire free zone. Open flame candles and pit fires are not permitted.
